The natural setting of national interest Poblet, is known for the monastery that welcomes Santa Maria de Poblet, and little or nothing is known about their nature requiza.
The name of Poblet patriomonio is found in its natural, existing lands were called Hortu populeti, or what is the same orchard surrounded by forests of poplar, the use of the name and over time have adapted this name until its current meaning Poblet.
The park has been occupied since medieval times, when at first the monks of the monastery carried out a balanced use of resources. Later with the confiscations it began to spread, uncontrolled private use of the park, damaging his image and bringing the disappearance of many of its trees.
The situation could be offset in time thanks to the Catalogue of Public Utility Woodland (1862). Today the park receives cataloging Natural Area of National Interest (1984).
Nestled between the Sierra Prelitoral and Catalan Central Depression, this causes unevenness that can reach 700 meters, creating a landscape of spectacular earrings.
The landscape of the park is the perfect and unique to the monastery of Poblet.
Some of the park's habitats have been cataloged of Community interest, notably the forest, which are predominant. Here are the highlights:
· Pyrenean oak forests, and pubecense carresqueño
· Corsican pine forests
· The chestnut forests
· Yew forests
· Encinares with oak and pine.
The highlight is the forest of oaks.
The most prominent plant community park is that of Pyrenean oak woods, a unique species in Catalonia and it is found only in this park.
Other plants that fill the park are alder, African oak, cherry, maple or white maple and others.
The variety and number of forest environments of the park, is certainly one of its greatest assets.
The presence of animals in the park is concentrated in the mountain area of Prades.
The most common species in the park are wild boar and small shrew, among mammals find the fox and deer
In regard to birds species inhabit the park as the royal eagle and short-toed eagle, plus various birds like owls and falcons.
Reptiles are represented by the snake north.
